Free Men
Free Men have their own code of conduct and sometimes this can depend largely on what their caste is.
We’re not going to get into all the ins and outs of what it takes to be a free man on Gor. In general men are in charge and can do much as what they want outside of making sure to follow the law of the land just like anyone else.
Free Men are the heads of household and inherit before women do.
Head of household is held responsible for those within his home and is expected to oversee it maintaining order. He can be held accountable for the actions of those that are a part of it.
He has the right to enslave his free companion or daughters without recourse for the most part but does not have the right to forcibly collar Free Women within the city/township just because he feels like it.
Free Women
The role of a Free Woman can sometimes feel like walking a tight rope.
Finding the balance between having the right to speak their mind, find femininity but avoid being slave like or to push too far.
The Township of Delphinia is considered a “Southern City” therefore a Free Woman is held to a certain level of conduct.
Free Women should behave with decorum and modesty in public, as appropriate for their social station and political status.
Apparel
♦ The wearing of a veil, and headscarf by a Free Woman is not a matter of law but for the protection of the Free Woman. The choice remains with the Free Woman, but she must be prepared for the consequences of her actions if she does not cover up.
♦ Free Women are to wear their hair up and off of the neck as is traditional in most Southern Cities, High Caste Free Women will veil while Low Caste Free Women may choose to go without at their own risk. The veil by tradition is meant to conceal and protect a Free Woman.
♦ Free Women should be dressed modestly; covered by robes of concealment. Robes of concealment cover as much flesh as possible. Generally speaking the robes shouldn’t cling to every curve showing off their body. The idea behind robes of concealment is to conceal a woman so she doesn’t draw too much attention to herself.
♦ Low Caste Free Women may sometimes show their lower arms since sometimes work necessitates it.
♦ Should not wear earrings as they are adornments for slaves.
Behavior
♦ Insulting, or disrespectful speech towards a man by itself is not a punishable offense.
♦ All Free Women, including Merchants, and Low Caste Free Women may own and operate their own property (including slaves), houses, businesses, or estates.
♦ Free Women are free to move about town without escort. Women may leave the town without an escort, however, the accompaniment of a Guard, or Warrior is advised.
♦ Free Women have the right to negotiate the terms of any contract for companionship, unless it is being arranged by her father, adoptive father, or legal guardian.
Free Women who conduct themselves properly should not have to fear being collared.
Actions That Could Lead to the Collar
While forced collars are not a part of sim role play there are certain behaviors where a Free Woman has forfeited the right of protection based upon her actions within role play.
♦ Dresses herself as a slave in public of her own volition. Public nudity; uncovered chest, shoulders, legs, etc.
♦ Publicly, or privately calls herself in front of another Free Person, a slave. Ideally there should be witnesses to such a declaration before she can be enslaved.
♦ Willingly and of her own volition submits. If he refuses her submission he can do with her what he pleases either remanding her to the nearest slave house or letting her go on her merry way.
♦ Is enslaved by her Head of Household, or companion.
♦ Having an undue amount of interest in slavery and bondage. Spying on Free Men and slaves, repetitive lingering around slave markets, or Slave Houses unless their Caste work includes such.
♦ Acting as a slave publicly, performing slave dance in public, kneeling as a slave before a Free Man, or calling a Free Man, Master. Having a visible brand without manumission papers.
♦ Refusal, or inability to pay debts as well as repeated public drunkenness.
♦ Repeated instances of thievery.
Any Free Person who is enslaved automatically loses their Caste, Caste protections as well as any other rights, or political entitlements.
